Lua d’Enigmas is a Portuguese wine estate born in the Tejo, between Alpiçarça and Almeirim, approximately 80 kilometres north-east of Lisbon.
The project was born from an encounter between two paths, two perspectives and a shared ambition: to create sincere, precise Portuguese wines deeply rooted in their origin.
The estate was founded in 2022 by David Ferreira, a recognised Franco-Portuguese oenologist, after several years working at the heart of the Tejo. This dual culture gives him a singular reading of wine: a deep rooting in viticultural Portugal, combined with a broader sensitivity to the great codes of quality, precision and rigour that structure the wine world.
In 2023, Sacha François joined the venture. Trained in France and Switzerland, in agronomy, ecology and oenology, he brings a complementary perspective: understanding soils, thinking about the estate over time, structuring the project and building a more sustainable approach to viticulture.
Lua d’Enigmas was born from this complementarity. David brings oenological precision, wine experience and knowledge of viticultural Portugal. Sacha brings an agronomic, ecological and strategic reading of the project.
Together, we are building a human-scale estate, with the ambition to produce wines that are neither standardised nor artificially shaped, but carried by a clear identity: author-driven Portuguese wines, demanding, sincere and alive.
Our Philosophy
Quality begins long before the cellar.
It begins in the way we observe the vine, understand the soils, respect natural balances and intervene with precision. We are progressively moving towards a biological and regenerative viticulture, attentive to biodiversity, soil life and the sobriety of our practices.
Organic farming is not merely a selling point for us. It is a direction of work, a demand and a way of making wine more readable for those who drink it. It reflects our desire to limit unnecessary interventions, to preserve the expression of each place and to build an estate consistent with its environment.
In the cellar, we seek precision over demonstration. Macerations, ageing, wood and time are used as tools of balance. They must accompany the wine, give it depth, without masking its origin or its energy.
We believe in wines that take time to build. Some wines must wait, settle, evolve, before they are ready to be shared.
Our philosophy is therefore simple: work with rigour, intervene with measure, and let each wine express what is most true within it.
Our Relationship with Terroirs

Lua d’Enigmas is not limited to a single terroir.
Charneca, Bairro and the future sites we will explore are for us different expressions of the same project: understanding what each origin can bring to the wine, then building a cuvée faithful to that identity.
We do not seek to impose a single style on all our wines. Each place has its own light, its soils, its climate, its constraints and its balance. Some terroirs bring more generosity and texture. Others reveal more freshness, structure or depth.
Our role is to read these differences, then to choose the most fitting gestures: the right plot, the right ripeness, the right extraction, the right ageing, the right resting time.
Terroir is not only where the wine comes from. It is what gives wine its singularity, its limits and its truth.
This is the search that guides Lua d’Enigmas: to reveal places, but also to tell the story of how we come to understand them.
Each cuvée thus becomes a chapter of our Great Work: a slow transformation, from grape to bottle, from raw material towards balance.
