Estate
Our Estate
Located between Alpiarça and Almeirim, in the heart of the Tejo wine region, just 80 km northeast of Lisbon, the Lua d’Enigmas estate was born from a sincere desire: to reconnect with the terroir and express its truth.
Founded in 2022 by David Ferreira after experience at several houses, the project marks a return to origins, following in the family's footsteps. He focuses on highlighting the Charneca terroir through an approach guided by balance and meaning.
From this intention, Citrinitas was born, the first chapter of our journey: a wine from the Charneca terroir, designed to let the purity and vitality of the fruit express themselves.
In 2023, Sacha joined the adventure, bringing a strategic vision and energy that support the estate's development. Together, they anchor the project durably in the terroir and sign the 2023 and 2024 vintages.
In 2025, the story continues with Nigredo, a red from the Rio Maior terroir. Deeper in expression, it illustrates a stage of maturation in our work, in continuity with the wines to come.
Our Philosophy
David and Sacha, with their complementary backgrounds, in-depth studies, and travels through Europe's vineyards, share the same conviction: to combine sustainability and quality. Their approach relies on precise knowledge of the terrain and collaborations with several European research organizations. Together, they have implemented simple and sustainable practices to limit environmental impact and promote biodiversity and soil life.
In the cellar, David draws on his dual Franco-Portuguese culture and his taste for detail. He combines French oenological rigor with the sensitivity of his Portuguese roots to craft authentic and precise wines, faithful to the personality of the Tejo terroir.
The estate is moving step by step towards regenerative viticulture, attentive to soil vitality, biodiversity, and minimal intervention. Every choice aims to let the Tejo express itself accurately, respecting the balance between land, climate, and time.
Our First Wine: Citrinitas
Citrinitas begins our search for clarity. Sourced from old Tejo vines rooted in the sands of Charneca, it reflects the meeting of generous Portuguese sun and the tension brought by Atlantic breezes.
Planted on dry charnecas composed of rolled pebbles and light sands, an environment sometimes underestimated but rich with possibilities, the vineyard develops a unique expression.
From this understanding came the desire for a Fernão Pires with character. A Tejo grape, early and expressive, it offers floral and thiolic aromas here, between yellow fruits, tropical notes, and citrus. Its vivacity and finesse naturally pair with aging on lees and barrel refinement, which add complexity and texture.
Macerations are carefully adjusted to preserve the purity of the fruit and the wine's natural tension. Aging lasts 10 months in barrels, then the wine rests for 3 years in the bottle in the cellar, at natural temperature, before its release. This time allows it to gain harmony and depth, where mineral backbone, fruit expression, and Tejo finesse meet.
Citrinitas reflects the care given to artisanal work and the light of the Portuguese terroir: a sincere wine, the first step on a path we intend to be humble and demanding.
